When I first started in VR, I quickly discovered that in this new gaming format, I needed some physical accommodations to prolong my comfort while playing. The major culprit - sore feet and back strain!
After wearing shoes and memory foam slippers, I ended up with 4 squares of puzzle 1/2 inch mat that help maintain a boundary and play comfortably.
Over time, I had looked to see what else is available for a solution and made the relation that all VR mats such as the Proximat are circular, matching the stationary boundary with some sort of indicators to give you an idea of where you are on the mat.
Truthfully, I really liked the idea of the custom Proximat with your own logo and could justify the dollar US - CAD exchange on the mat - but shipping costs brought me back to the drawing board.
Looking at my four squares, I decided to try cutting it in a circular, and add some holes as indicators.
Using a string and center point gave us a nice circle 45" in diameter, though cutting it was another challange.
Over all, it came out great. Velcro'd to the floor, the mat stays in position and you can swing hands, spin around for bow shots and thow shives with confidence.
